My friend Don

Created by Maria 4 years ago

I first met Don when he came into my cafe for lunch one day, i took him  his lunch and black coffee and we started to chat, Don told me all about his poorly wife Pam who had been unwell for a long time and then he read his paper. He then came back the next day then the next and before long his one cup of coffee became three and Don had his own little community ranging from customers and staff who either joined him for lunch or just a chat with him, from Dons chair came lots of advice, old stories, laughs, moans and unfortunately sadness when he sadly lost his beloved Pam. Don was so easy to talk to people started to ask after him if he wasn't there, i don't quite know if it was his honesty when telling you his opinion (even if it was that he didn't like his lunch or his coffee was cold😂), his kindness or his wise words when giving advice but his table was always full with friends who felt a lot of affection for him. Unfortunately after a couple of years i had to give up the cafe, i didn't get to see Don as much after that but our little funny group Don, me, Louise, Sam and LJ all kept in touch and met up when we could! My memories of Don will be of a kind, generous, smart, funny, truthful (he didn't mince his words 😁) family loving gentleman, i will never be able to think of my time in the cafe without remembering my dearest friend Don.😥

Rest in peace Don with your beloved Pam, i will miss you lots of love Mariaxx
